Technical information
Positioned just before final filling, the retention bag provides a buffer volume to ensure a continuous, consistent flow.
This is essential to avoid air entering the filling system and to ensure each vial is filled accurately. Often mounted on a weighing scale, it enables precise control and helps prevent interruptions during fill-finish operations.
The retention bag in the image includes three tubes, each with its own function: one for connecting the bag to the incoming filtered product, one for connecting it to the final fill assembly, and one for taking a sample if needed. This setup ensures process continuity while allowing quality control at this late stage of production. By monitoring the weight of the bag, the system can automatically pause the filling when the volume drops too low — preventing underfilled vials or air introduction into the filling line.
